Learn to Read Music
After students have a firm grounding in playing-based techniques, we start reading the music for the pieces they can already play. It works the same way a child learns language--first they learn to speak and later read and write.
In the same way that we all learn to speak years before we learn to read and spell, we temporarily delay music reading and immerse students in the experience of immediately playing great-sounding music.
